Oxford Lasers presents our most powerful short-pulsed laser illumination system, the 1000 W FireBIRD laser for high definition, ultra high-speed imaging. As the big brother to Oxford Lasers’ FireFLY 500 W laser, the FireBIRD now boasts up to 10 MHz pulse frequency with 15 nano second pulse duration and 2% duty cycle means the Oxford Lasers system outperforms standard industry models of imaging illumination. Our laser-based technology enables ultra-high clarity for advanced imaging techniques. Seamlessly synchronising with high-speed monochrome cameras, the FireBIRD uses a single controller to trigger the Laser Class 4 system. Switching between high-speed imaging and ultra high-speed imaging can now be done effortlessly making it an easy-to-use, top-class illumination system.
The FireBIRD laser illumination system is used by industry researchers who demand the highest quality of blur-free imaging that can only be achieved with a laser light source. Partnered with an 808 nm bandpass filter to enable a single wavelength, the FireBIRD illuminates through high brightness to capture the most difficult imaging applications to perfection such as welding, additive manufacturing, energetics and ballistics. The FireBIRD also provides the ability to image other advanced imaging techniques in fluid dynamics and flow visualisation such as Schlieren and PIV that are invisible to the human eye.
